Retired female teacher here: I taught (by choice) in a school with children who were “at risk.” Approximately 70% received free-reduced lunch…. hard working families who did their best. Many parents worked more than one job.
Our children needed to have mature empathetic teachers and school leaders both male and female. We had a gay long term substitute who was excellent and displayed wholesome values. I worked in his room so I know.
The best teachers are the teachers regardless of sex… empathy, compassion and commitment are key to our children’s success. I also was part of a group of teachers who received extensive support during the school year on direct instruction for students who needed extra support in reading. It made an enormous impact.
